Twivia game PopTweets combines celebrity tweets and trivia

Get Set Games have submitted PopTweets to the Apple App Store. This will be their second game release, a follow up to Addicus which was well liked right here.

PopTweets is a trivia game that uses celebrity tweets for questions and relies on your quick fingers and  ability to identify which celebrity said what. With 13 categories of celebrities ranging from movies, authors, music and internet famous there should be some group you follow or have some interest in. It is a great concept that is quick paced and addictive. Perfect for those commercial breaks on the couch (if you aren't tweeting yourself).

Read on for some tips and things we learned about the game during the beta. You should expect to see PopTweets out for the iPod and iPhone soon.

Tweet Defence - Yet Another Twitter based iPhone game.

Man, it seems like Twitter games are all the rave right now. Just a day or two ago we reported about the new celebrity PopTweets game and now today we've learned about Tweet Defense. Although I will admit, if there was ever a reason to start wasting even more time on Twitter, this game would be it.

The game is based on the popular and proven game concept of tower defense. Tweet Defense however, has a rather ingenious twist to its gameplay. Essentially this is how it works: Tweet Defense uses your Twitter stats - number of followers, friends, number of tweets you have done - and calculates bonuses to your defense against the attacking Zombies based on them.

Playstation Store Update: March 4th, 2010 - Save Pennies at the Arcade

No new PSN games for the PS3 this week, but some great games go half-price or BOGO free. Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo drops to $4.99. Ronin at DDGW is crazy mad about this game.

Penny Arcade Adventures finally get a discount on PSN - now going for $14.99 for the two episodes bundled together. That like buy-one-get-one free. It might just be time to scoop up this throwback to classic adventure games.

A new episode of the Tester hits the PlayStation Network bringing back David Jaffee as a guest judge. It`s a nice short piece of entertainment each week. The challenges are fun but it would be nice to see a true PlayStation game challenge, maybe in addition to the real challenge. So far there is no stand-out player to root for (maybe Doc), but a show like this really needs you to care about who is going each week.

Some new demos are out as well, but the MLB2k10 demo won't help you win one million dollars.

Read on for the full list of what`s released this week on the store.

EA Partner Program goes DD.

The Electronic Arts Partner Program, a project created to help promising indie developers gain access to EA publishing resources, is looking to Digital Download Distribution to launch partner titles.  New partners added to the Digital Download roster are HotHead Games and Klei Entertainment.

Hothead Games established themselves by bringing us the first two episodes of Penny Arcade Adventures, while Klei published the Eets series.  Both were self published titles released on Xbox Live Arcade.   Whie both these companies were able to produce highly polished and successful games for the digital download netwroks like XBLA, PSN and Steam, they were still dissapointed in the sales figures.

At DDGameWorld, we have seen a number of great titles falter in the shadow of big publisher releases so Hothead and Klei are well positioned to reach larger audiences now that EA will be handling distribution and marketing for their latest digital download projects; DeathSpank and Shank.

DeathSpank from Klei is expected to launch later this year and Shank, from Hothead games, is expected out this summer.

In an interview with Gamespot, EA's indie liaison, Jamil Moledina discussed the programs first entry into the DD marketplace;

"EA Partners really hasn't changed its strategic position, which is to partner with the best talent in the game industry, offer the full resources that Electronic Arts has developed over a quarter century, and provide those to the best creative, most break-through ideas presented by the worldwide game development community, That is still our charter and we're still signing a wide range of games. We're not limiting ourselves to packaged goods. However, the freedom of creativity that exists in the impulse purchase range is something that has both a direct return as well as a long-term benefit."

Assassin's Creed Multiplayer Free, 48 Hour Promotion

01-March-2010 (Thanks to JohnsonPhats for the heads up on this one...)
Ubisoft is running a 48 hour promotion for the launch of Assassin's Creed II Multiplayer for iPhone.  To build a multiplayer audience, this game is available free at the AppStore for the next 48 hours.  Online Multiplayer action is real time, not turn based, over a WiFi connection.

This is a top down action game that supports 4 player multiplayer action.  You and 3 friends will attempt to hide, evade and ultimately hunt each other down in this unique multiplayer app.  It's well worth getting in on the action while its free.

Is it worth $2.99 after launch promo price?  Let us know by posting a comment or review!
